I second what Hawk said, for what it's worth. Be careful!

APPEAL COMMITTEE CALLED OUR LAWYER
by ARoarer inour lawyer contacted us to let us know the appeal committee phoned her to let her know that they were upholding the decision to disfellowship us for "apostasy".
the elder also stated that we may "qualify for re-instatement after performing certain acts--which we are aware of".
eww, sounds kind of seamy to me.

Very well said, ARoarer.

Okay here goes....My Story. Long but true.
by Lin inplease bear with me through this, this could likely become lengthy.
i feel it's time for me to give you my story as a dub.
i was born and raised in an extremely "hardcore", strict witness home.

Lin, thank you for sharing your story with us. You deserve all of the freedom and happiness that it is possible to have come your way. I sure hope that your fiance will always treat you with the dignity and respect that you deserve.
Warm regards,

Discussion with The Elders
by BluesBrother ini spent a couple of hours yesterday going over things with a couple of elders, which was decent of them to give me a saturday afternoon.
they wanted to refer to the watchtower article to find points of agreement and common gound.
there were some of course since i still believe in god, creation and the bible (at least any doubts i had i was not ready to share at this time).

>"Nothing was resolved. I had secretly hoped they might even take offence at me . I had thinly disguised my use of these websites in the hope they get the point but
if they did so, it did not show ."A problem with meeting more than one elder or person is that they are not able to show interest or sympathy with your position, even if they genuinely agree with it. They too must fear the reaction of the other person (s) present.
A one on one meetings is best if you hope to elicit an honest response.

Have you considered contacting Bill Bowen or Alan F. with this observation? They seem to have some involvement with the case.

Has the Governing Body Extorted Authority?
by jst2laws ini hope i have not missed this being covered some time ago.
if so i apologize.
it seems to me the governing body has subtly violated their own faithful and discreet slave doctrine by obtaining unfettered control.

Just, you said: "What Im talking about is the bible based (TM) fantasy on which the WT tries to base their right to authority."
Agreed, and I only add that it has always been a fantasy. You, of course, know that perfectly well. There are/were 500 or so that were voting members of the Society? There are/were 6000 or so anointed, many women? There were many more anointed in earlier years? So, only a fraction of the anointed ever elected the big boys/GB anyway. That assumes that all of the voting members were of the anointed. However, I learned to my nave surprise as a kid that not all of the voting members claimed to be of the anointed class (TM). How many JW ladies who claimed to be of the anointed do you suppose got to elect the directors and GB members? It always seemed contradictory to me as an active JW that the ladies could have no roll on earth, even at the local level, but would have a huge roll at the side of Jesus in heaven.
I think we agree completely. I just wanted to emphasize that it has always been that way. The FDS/GB teaching has always been a crock of baloney. With these latest changes the discrepancies have gotten even more glaring, I suppose. Ah, now I see your point.
Btw, thanks for inquiring of me. Im doing fine. Hope that you and your wife are finding peace and contentment.
